You can’t hear while recording in Garageband because your Monitoring button hasn’t been turned on in the Smart Controls or on the track header. There is a very simple reason for why you can’t hear what you’re recording while using Garageband, and barring more obvious reasons like a muted track or the volume turned down, there is usually a simple solution related to either the monitoring button or in Garageband’s Preferences.
